Installing Grunt on Windows 7

In order to install grunt / gulp on windows, one must install nodejs. Install nodejs by downloading the installer found on on nodejs.org.

Once nodejs has been installed, open up the command prompt (window + r) and install grunt-cli. Install grunt-cli locally:

npm install -g grunt-cli

Set the path for grunt js

When installing scripts on windows 7 and beyond. One must set the path so that the command prompt is able to figure out where to look for your node modules.

Add this to the end of your environment variables:

%APPDATA%\npm

There are other aliases for that path like so:

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\npm

But one can just stick with the first path above.
