Git 1.8.0: fatal: The current branch master has multiple upstream branches, refusing to push

After updating git, i got this particular error:

Git 1.8.0: fatal: The current branch master has multiple upstream branches, refusing to push

It's a strange error because i only have one master branch. If you know the cause for this please leave a comment below!

Fix via Command line

To fix it you just perform in your git root:

git config remote.origin.push HEAD

Change the git config file

Per repo all the previous command does is add push = HEAD to the "remote origin" like so:

[remote "origin"]
push = HEAD
